About UsefulUtilities

How UsefulUtilities builds practical tools, documents limitations and handles corrections.

UsefulUtilities is an independently maintained software project for practical data, text and measurement tasks. The project is being rebuilt around one standard: a tool should be fast, clear about its limitations, and honest about where your input is processed.

Useful

Finish the whole task

We prioritize complete workflows, meaningful validation and copy/download actions over raw tool count.

Payload handling

Local where promised

A tool is labelled local only after its operation has been implemented and tested in the browser. The label describes the boundary of that tool's primary transformation.

Verifiable

Sources and limitations

Formulas, assumptions and lossy transformations should be visible rather than hidden behind “professional accuracy” claims.

Current rebuild

From utility directory to data workbench

The current roadmap focuses on inspecting, transforming and comparing JSON, structured data, URLs, timestamps and encoded content. Existing measurement converters remain available while their value and accuracy are reviewed.

Corrections and security reports

If a result, factual statement, accessibility feature or privacy description is wrong, please report it. Include the page, input that reproduces the problem (unless it is sensitive), expected result and browser/device where relevant.
